Getting Started Troubleshooting (Ethernet Cable Not Working)

1. Wrong Terminations on Your Wires

2. Wires Are Not Inserted All the Way
The second issue regarding cable wiring may be that the wires are not inserted up to the plug. You want to make sure the copper wires are pushed to the ends of the RJ45 connectors.
By doing so you ensure that the golden contacts on the wires can be contacted. It gives you a solid power connection.
3. Cable Not Plugged in All the Way
It seems like a pretty simple thing to do but you will be surprised at how often this is the reason for a bad connection. Make sure the Ethernet cables are securely connected to both ends of the lan cable for the fast internet.
Whether you connect your cable to an Xbox PlayStation or PC with a cable plugged in all the way will ensure a connection can be made.
4. Turn off Wifi
If you are hardwiring an Ethernet cable to your devices and at the same time a WiFi operator can have a problem with the settings. If you use Windows your computer will likely access your Ethernet cable via WiFi but this is not always the case.
If your cable does not work when you use both go to the network setup on your computer. Go to Open Network and Internet Settings. Look for the WiFi button and turn it off.
At the same time, you want to find the connection setting to a local area and make sure it is turned on. Wait until you see the beginning of a connection and you should be good to go.
5. Try Another Ethernet Port
This can be a problem where your Ethernet port does not work. To determine if you have a faulty router or modem try connecting the Ethernet cable to another port on the device. A router usually comes with several Ethernet ports. These ports are called LAN ports and should be labeled as such.
If you are unable to make a connection on the first port then let the second go. If that still does not work try the remaining ports. If there is still no success it may be because of a problem with your router.
To confirm this you want to make sure you double-checked the direction with the router to confirm that the setting is done correctly. You can also try calling the device manufacturer for more information.
6. Try Another Ethernet Cable
Another step you can take is to try another Ethernet cable. If you happen to have another cable running check that this lan cable is working with the same Ethernet port. If there is still no connection after using another cable it may be a problem with the device settings.

7. Update Computers Drivers

8. Disconnect and Reinstall Devices
We have all experienced the issues with turning off WiFi signals. Our first thought is usually to disconnect the router and reconnect it. Surprisingly the problem is usually resolved after performing this action.
The same idea can be applied to Ethernet cables as well. Although it may not be the best to affect a worthwhile shot.
Try disconnecting your devices from the router and reconnecting them. Wait for each device to charge and connect to the network then reconnect them.
9. Run Network Troubleshooter in Your Settings
Most likely your computer has a feature that can help diagnose problems with your network. This feature is often called network troubleshooting and is available on Windows computers and there are ways to do this on a Mac.
– For Windows 10:
Click Start on the Dashboard and then click Settings. Select Network and Internet and then Status. Under Change your network settings select Network troubleshooter.
– For Mac:
On your Mac select the Apple menu icon. Click Restart and then press and hold the D key while your Mac restarts. Continue to hold down the D key until the screen that displays a different language appears.
Choose a language and then Apple’s diagnostics will start automatically.
