How to Check Your RAM Speed

To check your ram speed you need to open up your command prompt and type in “msinfo32.exe”. If you have a 64-bit computer, change the “msinfo32.exe” in the command prompt to “msinfo64.exe”. You should see a page with a bunch of information in it. Look in the System Summary section for your processor name and speed.

What is Memory in a Computer?

Memory is an important part of a computer. It’s what the computer uses to run programs, store data, and retrieve information.

There are four main types of computer memory: Solid-state drive (SSD) or hard disk drive (HDD), random-access memory (RAM), video card video RAM, and motherboard BIOS.

These are the two specs that you need to pay attention to when buying a new PC: RAM speed and capacity.

How RAM Works

What is RAM?

It is a type of computer storage that stores data for programs and allows for run-time access to stored information that can be accessed much more quickly than from other types of storage. Random Access Memory, or RAM, often called volatile memory, is a type of computer storage that holds data only briefly before it is lost.

How Does RAM Work?

RAM’s primary purpose is to provide temporary storage for data so the CPU can process it. It fulfils this task by acting as an intermediary between the CPU and slower forms of memory such as hard drives and optical discs. The goal of RAM is to quickly transfer the data needed by the CPU to be processed so other parts of the motherboard can take over with their tasks.

The Difference Between Memory Types And How To Check For A Healthy RAM Speed

When it comes to computer memory, you have to keep in mind that there are two types – RAM and ROM. The former is volatile memory, which means that it does not retain content when the computer is turned off. The latter, on the other hand, is non-volatile and retains information even when the power goes down.

What you should know about computer RAM is that it operates at a certain speed – where a higher frequency number has a better performance. You can check your RAM speed with a program called Memtest 86+. It will be able to tell you whether your RAM needs repairs or replacement.

You can access Memtest 86+ from this page:

It is important to make sure that your laptop has enough RAM. You can check this by opening the Task Manager on Windows 10 and clicking on the Performance tab, which lists your current RAM usage. If you see close to 100% usage, your RAM might not be enough, and you should consider upgrading it if possible.
